Chandeliers, being the longest-lasting type of decorative lighting, are also the most popular element for lighting large indoor spaces.

The first mention of chandeliers dates back to the 15th century and at first candles were used as a source of light.

In the 18th century, with the rise of the Neoclassical movement and the technological progress in the field of glasswork, it turned from a simple lighting medium into an art.

The regions of Bohemia in the Czech Republic, and Murano in Italy, having amazing craftsmen with a pioneering aesthetic, prevailed and still dominate design and quality of construction to this day.The evolution of chandeliers from a means of lighting to a display of wealth and status symbol for the aristocracy, resulted in the manufacture of large-scale handcrafted masterpieces. This fact gave impetus to the talented craftsmen, as a result of which many "works of art" are preserved to this day in palaces and luxurious venues. The largest Bohemian chandelier ever made is located in the "Dolmabahçe Palace in Istanbul" and is a gift from Queen Victoria. It has 750 lights and weighs 4.5 tons.
